Job Description

Job Brief:

We are looking for an experienced Lead Data Engineer to join a large-scale international project, focused on building a robust, scalable, and well-governed data platform to support future Artificial Intelligence initiatives.

The role involves leading technical decisions in a modern data environment, ensuring best practices in data engineering across the entire data lifecycle. This is an on-site position in Sweden, with an initial 12-month contract.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and optimization of data engineering solutions in cloud environments.
  • Design and maintain robust data pipelines, ensuring data quality, performance, and governance from ingestion onwards.
  • Develop, optimize, and maintain complex queries using T-SQL and/or PL/SQL
  • Implement and evolve modern data architectures, including Data Warehouse Automation (DWA) and the Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold).
  • Collaborate with BI and Analytics teams to ensure reliable and efficient data availability for reporting and visualization.
  • Act as a technical reference and provide guidance on strategic data and cloud-related decisions.
  • Explore, evaluate, and adopt new technologies (e.g., Microsoft Fabric, vector databases, AI integrations) to address evolving business and client needs.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and quality standards.

 

Requirements & Skills:

  • More than 5 years of experience in Data Engineering or similar roles.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, including T-SQL and/or PL/SQL, with strong skills in querying, programming, and performance optimization.
  • Expert-level knowledge of cloud-native data platforms, such as Microsoft Azure (Synapse, SQL Database, Fabric), AWS, or Snowflake.
  • Strong experience with BI and data visualization tools, such as Power BI, Qlik, or Tableau..
  • Hands-on experience with Data Warehouse Automation (DWA) frameworks and modern data architecture patterns.
  • Strong data quality mindset, with a focus on building governed and reliable data platforms to support AI-driven use cases.
  • Curiosity and interest in exploring emerging technologies, including AI integration and advanced data platforms.
  • Fluency in English and Portuguese (mandatory).
  • Availability to work on-site in Sweden (mandatory).
